The Playmobil Pyramid will send your children back in time to the era of Pharaohs and mummies.
The Playmobil Brand
The Playmobil name began with a lock and metal fitting company founded by Andreas Brandstätter in Germany in 1876. Over the years, they expanded to become a manufacturer of assorted metal products such as cash registers. Taking advantage of the hula hoop craze of the 1950s, the company, now known as geobra, developed techniques for molding plastic. After the fad had run its course, they realized that they could use the equipment to make other toys. However, the oil crisis of the 1970s led geobra to look for innovative new products that would expand their business despite the rising cost of plastic.
The first Playmobil figures were introduced to the public in 1974. More than two billion Playmobil toys have been manufactured since. Playmobil tends to design their toys around themes, such as pirates or city life. These award-winning products are available around the world, providing unique and detailed play sets and figures to children over the age of 4.
Playmobil Pyramid Details
The Playmobil Pyramid presents a story of an intruder trying to steal the Pharaoh's treasure by breaking into the pyramid. Thanks to several interactive elements, the intruder is thwarted at every turn. For instance, the intruder can open a hidden staircase with a secret button. However, with the pull of a lever, the "guards" can cause the staircase to collapse. Trap doors, a hidden doorway through a revolving portrait, cabinets where plastic snakes lie in wait, and an opening sarcophagus are just a few more of the intriguing details the toy offers. Children can spend hours creating their own adventures in the pyramid.
The Playmobil Pyramid includes:
- Three pyramid guards
- Intruder
- Sarcophagus
- Pharaoh's mummy
- Accessories including torches, urns and amulets
The toy measures 21 x 21 x 14 inches. Removable sides allow full access to the pyramid's interior. Brightly colored graphics add to its authentic Egyptian style. This play set is a recipient of the Oppenheim Toy Portfolio Gold Award and was a 2008 Toy Innovation nominee.
